Every shape is a parcel. Shaded ones have a permit of the chosen type on file. Pick a type to see where it clusters. No addresses are shown.
Permits on file from city and county records. Some permits are not confirmed final, so these are permits, not finished jobs.
Most homes here have already replaced each system at least once, so this is an estimate of the yearly volume, not a count.
Estimates from public records and typical lifespans, for the 14,644 homes with a year built on record. The roof estimate counts homes with an asphalt shingle or flat roof on record. Not an inspection.
Not every replacement shows up in permit records, so the real share is higher.
Share of homes with a finished permit for that system, Cook County Assessor permit records.
18,276 permits on file, all-time, from city/county records, not tied to any one address.
Ranked by permits on file. Business names come from public permit records, not a recommendation or vetting by ChiHomework.
Value lines use Cook County Assessor arm's-length sale prices and living area, comparing homes with and without finaled permits for that kind of work before the sale year, within the same size range. Houses and two- to six-flats are compared separately, and homes resold within two years are left out. Suburban permit records start in 2018. A pattern for this ZIP, not a valuation of any one home, and not proof the work caused the difference. Permits do not cover every update.
Right now it is probably in your head, or a shoebox of receipts. When was the brick last tuckpointed? Is the roof still under warranty? Who redid the water heater? ChiHomework keeps every repair and upgrade in one place, so you always know what has been done and what is coming up. And when you sell, that history becomes proof for the next owner, the way a full service record sells a car.
Every repair, upgrade, and service, with the date and who did it. No more guessing or digging through old email.
See when the roof, windows, or water heater is getting close, before it fails.
A documented home reassures buyers and can help it sell faster.
